The Skinny Kid to Swole Dad- My Journey
Born premature I grew up as a really skinny underweight kid. I hated being underweight as much as I hated being over overweight later on.
In fact I was so skinny that when I went to Bangladesh as a teenager the mega malnourished folk in Bangladesh famous for being underweight, were worried for me, imagine that..lol! At 17 years old I weighed in at a measly 7 stones.
Suicidal Thoughts and Gaining Weight
Whilst holidaying in Bangladesh at the age of 15 I contracted tuberculosis. Of course I didn’t know it at the time and it’s probably one of the reasons why I was severely underweight, the other being in an Islamic boarding school where I hated the food and didn’t eat much of it.
After 5 years of battling with tuberculosis during which time I became almost house bound, and even bed bound for many months. I can recall a couple of the worst summers in my life, unable to sit up because of the pain. No internet, no iphone just a few books and a crappy crackling radio I could barely hear. Lying in bed ALL day I could hear the children playing outside and birds tweeting whilst I lay there unable to even raise my head from the pillow.
By this point 3 years had passed without a diagnosis. Doctors didn’t have a clue what it was, one even suggested I was faking it to claim welfare benefits.
Not knowing if I'd ever get better, being told I'm faking it, unable to work or do things other teenagers did. Partying, having fun during the peak years of my life, I began to develop severe suicidal thoughts.
It was something I've never revealed to anyone except one person on the Internet who counselled me on a night when it got really bad.
“Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem” became my mantra. I didn’t know anything about positive affirmations then. Also my faith taught me God does not place on anyone more than they can bear. Together with the support of my mum, those were the only things that kept me going
Recovery and Weight Gain
To cut a long story short, after 5 years of suffering I got rushed into hospital for some serious inspections when a neurologist I was seeing noticed, I’d lost the hearing in one ear, I could not swallow properly AND that I could not even move my arms to take off my shirt in order to be inspected.
That’s when I finally got diagnosed with an extremely rare case of tuberculosis in the bone of the skull. Following treatment I gained weight. For the first time in my life my 'skinny guys six pack' was disappearing. Initially I was glad, since most of my life I battled with being underweight. But a couple of years later, it started to get ugly. I felt heavy, I couldn’t jog and parts of my body were wobbling, something unimaginable before
A fellow colleague and friend at university who had taken up bodybuilding made a few attempts at encouraging me to attend the gym with him. In a true 'excuse making overweight guy' manner I told him I was too busy. Instead justifying my laziness and weight gain, I projected my own insecurities on to him and claimed he had a problem of body dysmorphia. Oh and the other excuse which makes me laugh now was 'I was busy exercising my mind' because I was involved with so many fiqh and Arabic classess in and out of Uni.
Notwithstanding; he remained persistent and thankfully, a few weeks later, I eventually relented. It was the Christmas holidays of 2001 when I got bitten by the bug. Of course I didn’t have a clue what I was doing, I chugged down a ton of fat burners and worked out 4 to 5 hours day. Not something I would recommend at all now. I really don’t know what happened. I went crazy, probably because I actually hated seeing myself the way I was.
After the Christmas holidays when I returned to university, everyone noticed my dramatic weight loss. I had lost well over 3 inches in 2 weeks and well over a stone. Having lost a lot of weight and muscle mass, I eventually ended up with a weak frail look. Not quite what I was after.
From then on I fumbled along. Yo yo dieting not really knowing what I was doing. Even though I thought I did. I started training heavy, bulking and all that rubbish and ended up being big and fat. Once again, not the look I sought. I remained the fat muscly bulky guy for the next ten years despite training five days a week for most of that time and torturing myself with diets.
It was not until 2011 when I decided to invest in some proper education and learnt stuff that went against all the stuff you hear and read about in the mainstream media that I started to see the real results I wanted.
I’ve continued to invest in my education since. Finally deciding it’s time to share my knowledge with the world and help others show them how easy weight loss can be when you focus on the Fit Dad Life Mastery Principles, thus Kaan Fitness was born.
To put it simply : I’m on a mission to restore manliness, eradicate man boobs and restore marital bliss and you get to feel confident and add years to your life as bonus too.

Here answers to some frequently asked questions
Do I Need A Gym Membership?
You don’t need a gym membership but you will need access to some equipment, at the very least a suspension trainer and a pull up bar. All of which are very cheap. Although I can and will provide you with zero weight alternatives, it will make your life easier and you can make progress faster if you have some equipment.
How Do I Know I’m Doing The Exercises Right?
Every workout comes with accompanying exercsie videos from two angles. Most people don’t need a trainer to hold their hand in the gym, if you’re concerned about your form you can post your videos in the facebook group and I'll review them. Form is not an issue in the fat loss phase.
How much time do I need?
With my proven formula 20 minutes is day is all it takes. If you’re not able to spare that much time a day for your health something that affects every aspect of your life, then you have to assess your priorities.
There are no fixed workouts, workouts are provided but you choose when and where to do them. Many of my clients lose weight without working out. That's the secret of FDLM workouts are not the answer to you weight problems.
What happens after the program ends?
You should have lost significant weight and built some great healthy habits. You can continue what you’re doing. If however you have another bigger goal. To get super jacked Swole Dads or super strong Dad’s Gone Strong you can move to a follow on program, to help you with that.
You get to keep everything you’ve learnt and all the recipes, worksheets, infographics, workouts and other resources. Access to the app is a paid service with significant overheads on my part, will therefore terminate
Up to yet everyone that has followed through on the program and lost the weight has kept it off whether it’s been six months or a year and half. One of my first online clients Faisal still looks well to this day and is now focused on building muscle.
Is it for fat loss only?
I have a fat loss program, muscle building program and a strength program.
9 times out 10, people need to lose weight even when they think they need to gain weight, they're metabolically obese normal weight.
After the age of around 27 you lose 0.5lb of muscle whilst adding 1lb of fat each year, by the time you're 40 if you haven't been training to hold onto muscle the 'use it or lose it effect' you could weigh the same as you did in your twenties but look totally different soft and podgy but you think you need to gain weight, no. you need to lose fat or you'll end up in a permabulk situation where you never look aesthetically pleasing just bulky.
So although you will gain some muscle in the first program, that's not our primary goal, unless you already at 10% body fat have clear muscle separation and a six pack, in which case you probably wouldn't be reading this, focus on fat loss first otherwise you’ll be going around in circles without ever seeing satisfying results. Is it one to one coaching or is it mainly acting on the pre- recorded videos?
Advice is given on personalized individual basis based on the initial audit, where you're at currently, your goals, progress reports, injury, tastes etc.
There's group coaching elements, one to one elements and pre-recorded elements.
It's not copy me and jump around on zoom program, that's not coaching, that's just entertaining people making them think they're getting value, but no results.
Do we get coaching calls, accountability etc as part of the programme?
Weekly group coaching call
Most don't feel they need these because they're communicating with me and my coaches on telegram every single day and they're filling in a weekly progress report. We can see literally everything they log in the app, their foods, workouts, even sets, reps and weight, when we need to see them and I'm on Telegram and Facebook everyday too.
In the beggining we insisted on weekly coaching calls because that's what people thougth they needed, but in the end it became more of a hindrence than a benefit. Busy professsionals don't have an hour to spare every week, so they were cancelling calls regularly. Pretty much everything is covered on the weekly progress report and weekly group coaching call where you can ask me anything. There is also the Monthly coaching call to fill in any gaps or you can just message me or one of my coaches.
I've been doing this for two years it's a proven system that has been refined over and over again to get it to this stage and that's why you're seeing the results. Trust the process.
Will I Get One To One Support?
Yes as and when you need it via telegram. Remember there will be weekly group coaching calls where you will also get the support of others on the same journey as you.
Isn’t it Too Expensive for Online Training?
The question you need to ask yourself is, what is it really costing you to be overweight and unhealthy? You maybe thinking nothing just a bit of emotional pain but have your really thought about it
If you lose 30lbs, regain your confidence, escape a toxic relationship, apply for a job abroad, land it and get promoted to director in 5 years was it worth it? Not an uncommon scenario.
Consider another Scenario: Abdul, has tried everything, he’s spend 5k in the last few years on gym memberships he’s never used, he is self conscious and intimidated since he doesn’t know what to do, thousands of pounds on bogus supplements, gadgets like ab belts and other fad diets, diet plans, juices plans.
Useless PT’s and 1 2 1 sessions that didn’t do much for him (because he needed the group support, nutrition and behaviour change and mindset coaching), if he comes on the program trains 3 times a week, learns how to eat and receives an amazing service, loses a stone, feels really good about himself and his whole family get to eat more healthily. Which also means his children never have to deal with bullying and ill health associated with being overweight. In summary it influences his whole life, is that not priceless. Hell Yeah!
How many times have you spent money on stuff (watches, phones, cars, handbags, shoes) that no where near impacted your life as much, and you got nothing near the value.

You have to decide what the RESULT is worth to you (not how much a session is worth)
It’s like comparing a Toyota to a Ferrari, or Primark to Versace they’re not the same thing. If you’re after the cheapest trainer then this probably isn't the right service for you.
I just want a personal trainer?
A Havard study demonstrated statistically 2lbs of fat loss in 6 months is the average what the average personal training client lost; Is that what you want?
My online clients are losing over 2.2lbs a week on average from the first week and continue to lose weight after they finish.
Do you need someone to watch over you to count your reps? Is that what you feel will make all the difference. Then why are so many personal training clients in gyms not getting results.
Online weight loss coaching is more convenient, more flexible and there is much more accountability around essential habits that are the cornerstone of permanent fat loss.
That’s why you can get better weight loss results with online coaching than in person face to face.
There is only so much you can do with a client who comes to exercise with you once a week. It's what you do outside of the personal training that determines your success or failure.

Your progress is monitored with weekly checkin. Our coaches provide feedback on mondays, and based on your previous weeks performance we make adjustments as required.

Is the programme catered to every individuals specific goals, body type etc?
Body types are predominantly a myth used by marketers to sell you something generic pretending it's unique, everyone puts on weight in a calorie surplus and loses weight in a deficit 100% of the time.
If you're not losing weight you need to find the real problem, it's not your body type I have 1-hour coaching call breaking this down.
Individual goals are catered for, yes.
How do we ensure that we don't fall back into old habits and put the weight back on once we reach our ideal weight?
That’s a legitimate concern for people who have tried other programs lost weight and found themselves back to square one soon after. Fit Dad Life Mastery is based around lifestyle change, that's why we have a mindset component, behaviour change, nutrition and Exercise (intelligent movement). I will never ask you to completely cut out rice, curry, carbs, biriyani, kebabs or other foods you enjoy. If you enjoy the foods you eat and don’t have to commit to hours of training a day why would you gain the weight back?

How many workouts a week would your program consist of and how long are they?
The program is tailored to you individual needs there no set amount of workouts of lengths I have cleint do zero workouts and still averaging 1kg weight loss a week. Other training 3 hours a week. It's entirely up to you. But I'll save you some time and head ache. Workouts only count for a maximum of 5% weight loss results. If you're relying on workouts to get you the results you're looking in the wrong place.
